Today is Three Oaks Information Day
Three Oaks Elementary School will conduct its annual Information Day from 9 a.m. to noon today at the school at 1514 E. Three Oaks Road.
Parents and students can learn about activities and services available to them in the 2001-02 school year.
Contest will determine area's best gardens
Countryside Flower Shop, Nursery and Garden Center, Crystal Lake, is conducting its fifth annual Green Thumb contest. A $100 gift certificate will be awarded to one winner in each of the following categories: best perennial garden, best annual color garden, best patio/deck container garden and best water garden.
To enter submit one 4-inch photo of your garden to Countryside Flower Shop, Nursery and Garden Center by Aug. 15. Photographs will be displayed for customers to vote on their favorite Aug. 21 to Sept. 3.
Winners do not need to be present to win.

Students can register at HHS open house
Huntley High School students who missed the school's registration days Aug. 1 and 2 will have another chance to register for classes at the open house from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Students will receive their class schedules, locker assignments and textbooks. Interested students also will have an opportunity to sign up for extracurricular activities.
All new and returning students who plan to attend Huntley High School during the 2001-02 school year must pre-register before the start of classes Aug. 20.
Students who are new to the district this year also must complete registration procedures at the Office of Student Information Services prior to attending the Huntley High School Open House-registration. The Office of Student Information Services is in the North Elementary School building, at the District 158 Central Administrative Office, 11302 Lincoln St., second floor, in Huntley.

Market Days will help with post prom funds
Huntley Post-Prom Committee will be work at the next Market Day to raise funds to support the Huntley Post Prom activities.
Order forms can be found at many local businesses or at Huntley schools. Orders also can be placed on the Internet at www.marketday.com/school code 16924.

Cary Cruisin' Nights drive through summer
The Cary-Grove Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Cary Cruisin' Nights from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays throughout the summer on Main Street in downtown Cary. The events feature classic cars, music, food and raffles.
This Wednesday will be Kids' Night with games, crafts and fun activities for kids of all ages. If it rains, Kids' Night will be held next Wednesday.
Natural yard tours continue Aug. 25
The Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee of the McHenry County Defenders has announced its August natural yard walk. The walk will take place at 10 a.m. Aug 25 at the home of Phil and Lou Emmons, Blossom Bend Nursery. Their home at 7805 Tryon Grove Road in Richmond has an incredibly innovative combination of native and non-native plants.
To reach the Emmons home, Ttke Route 31 north out of McHenry to Tryon Grove Road. Turn left, west, on Tryon Grove Road, the junction of Tryon Grove Road and routes 31 and 12. It is approximately 3 miles to the house.
