Qld: Opposition backs cane farmers' parly protest
The Queensland opposition is backing cane farmers' plan to protest during the historicsitting of Queensland Parliament in Townsville next month.
Opposition leader MIKE HORAN says the struggles of the cane farmers after years ofbad weather, crop disease and low world prices is the biggest issue in the north.
Some farmers have warned of mass protests during the sitting.
But only a handful of farmers turned up to protest outside this week's meeting of federalcabinet in Cairns despite threats of a mass rally.
